(noun) Founded in 1999, GENseng is Geneseo’s Asian American Performance Ensemble and is the only one of its kind in the 64-campus SUNY-wide system.           GENseng’s mission is threefold:(1) To educate the Geneseo community about Asian American and Asian cultures, histories, and literatures(2) To provide opportunities for the Geneseo Asian American community to make meaningful connections with the larger New York Asian American community(3) To provide Asian American students with theatre training and a place where they can represent themselves and speak publicly the words Asian and Asian American playwrights wrote for them to say.(http://www.geneseo.edu/theatre_dance/genseng) as of 2015, 56.25% of the students at Geneseo have heard GENSeng, and 43.75% believe that it is specific to the area. (Bonetto, G-M, 2015)
