Green: noun 1. The open area located in upper campus, surrounded by academic and administrative buildings. Frequented by students in the warmer months, for activities including but not limited to studying, Frisbee, sunbathing, and socializing;"Do you want to meet me up by the Green for some studying and Frisbee?"75% of students knew this term.As of 2012 58% of students surveyed knew this word, 35% believe it is of local origin.(Felice, G-M, 2012)2. Comments:

This is a term that in surveying of Geneseo and non-Geneseo students received definitions related to the Green movement, although not enough to warrant an update to the entry.  However, it will be interesting to see if this trend continues over time and if "Green" becomes solely associated with the social movement. (S.
