The phrase "an endangered speechie" comes from this term.  It refers to the moratorium placed on the speech path major Spring 2012.  It’s a play on "endangered species" and "speechie."  It was the most popular for a few months after the announcement but it currently (fall 2012) recognizable. EOberdorf, 2012
